'''Deoband Community Wikimedia''' (abbreviated as DCW) is a recognized user-group affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. It takes its name from the Deoband Islamic seminary, and aims at improving Wikipedia and its sister projects with knowledge and information related to but not limited to global Muslim academia, scholarship, history and culture, at a global level, in any language.

== Our mission and purpose ==
We align ourselves with the mission of Wikimedia Foundation to engage people collect and develop knowledge [with a thematic focus on global Muslim academia, history, clture, heritage, etcetera], under a free license or in the public domain and to disseminate it effectively. As an affiliate of the Foundation, we offer our members a recognised voice in the Wikimedia community.
Our purpose is to:
* To help grow and promote the development of free knowledge through open source.
* To increase public awareness and support for Wikimedia platforms and projects.
* To support creation of Wikipedia spaces in Muslim minority institutions, aligned with our focus.

We support people and organisations in contributing to Wikipedia, Wikidata and other Wikimedia platforms through events, training and partnerships - contributing to our thematic foucs. We:
* Train people and organisations to learn about and how to edit Wikipedia and other Wikimedia platforms
* Support experienced editors to continue to grow and develop their contributions to Wikimedia platforms through networking and training
* Organise [[Events|workshops, edit-a-thons and events]] with our network of [[Facilitators|DCW Facilitators]]
* Codesign [[Partnerships|programs and partnerships]] that address gaps and bias on Wikimedia platforms
* Run and facilitate global conversations through [[DCW Conversation Hour]]
* Train beginner graphic designers through our [[DCW Graphic Internship]]
* Connect regional editors with the global editing community
* Advocate for open access.
