DCW Graphic Internship
Our Graphic Design Internship program is dedicated to equipping emerging designers with real-world skills and professional experience. It provides the intern with hands-on opportunities to develop their talent and creative vision. More than a technical training program, it is a framework for design as advocacy, where visual communication becomes a tool to amplify underrepresented knowledge and scale community impact. Through intentional mentorship and iterative feedback, interns produce communications that are clear, accessible, and strategically aligned. These visuals not only promote individual events but also strengthen the DCW's presence, making our grassroots work more visible, credible, and scalable across platforms.
The internship specifically prioritizes women from marginalized backgrounds, creating a supported entry point into the Wikimedia movement. By providing mentorship, professional development, and a portfolio of published work, the program builds confidence and opens pathways for these women to contribute, lead, and grow within the open knowledge ecosystem.
By the end of the internship, participants gain tangible skills, a deeper understanding of the Wikimedia movement's values, and the confidence to pursue impactful roles in design and communications. Subject to a DCW Board resolution from 6 April 2025, this internship program was briefly disrupted until December 2025, and resumed again in January 2026.
