Conversation exploring the effect of meetups in Wikimedia movement
This conversation hour is credited as the first standard DCW Conversation Hour. The conversation focused on the effect of offline gatherings of Wikimedia communities, and to know merits and demerits of the offline meetings. The conversation featured Nicole Schwitter from the University of Warwick, who is a sociologist with a strong focus on quantitative and computational methods.
Nicole has focused on German Wikipedia in her PhD thesis: “The role of offline ties in online communities: the case of Wikipedia”. The conversation hour presentation can be accessed from here for free.
