Wikidata is one of many open-source platforms, which make up the global Wikimedia movement. It was founded on 29 October 2012 to serve as a free knowledge base, comprising data items. It is one of the fastest growing projects within the movement- easier to edit and explore than other wikis.
The Deoband Community Wikimedia has been celebrating Wikidata anniversaries with spirit since 2022. Over the period of time, as we helped establish Wiki Clubs, our events have become more decentralized. Unlike in 2022 and 2023, we celebrated Wikidata 12th anniversary quite differently - with several offline events and a three-day thematic label-a-thon from October 29 to October 31, 2024.

Members of Wiki Club AMU on Wikidata Anniversary celebration
This year, these events were led by COT members of our clubs, Wiki Club AMU, Wiki Club Deoband and Wiki Club Jamia, at three distinct places, Aligarh, Deoband and Delhi. Our volunteers met, contributed to Wikidata with labels, statements, and enjoyed "Wikidata cakes". We appreciate the efforts put forth by Hiba, Nadeem, Samiya and Zuhair - the leads of our Wiki Clubs!
