Deoband Community Wikimedia (DCW) is a recognized but independent affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. It focuses on representation of global Muslim academia, history, culture, heritage and scholarship, within Wikimedia projects, across all languages. DCW was recognized by Wikimedia Affiliations Committee in January 2022, and it has since then established a range of programs and initiatives in order to achieve its objectives.
DCW’s major programs include its monthly Conversation Hour, open for everyone in the world, and the Heritage Lens, which aims at capturing Muslim heritage all around the globe, and making it available for free. Our volunteers have represented us at several Wikimedia conferences including WikiConference India 2023, Wikimania Singapore 2023, and the WikiWomenCamp 2023.
