Celebrating 25 Years of Wikipedia: Call for Abstracts
We are pleased to invite our community members, academics, and researchers to submit their abstracts for a one-day conference celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Wikipedia. The deadline to submit the abstracts is 14 January 2026. The submission window is open until 16 January 2026 for Wikimedians who are willing to present virtually.
The conference aims to explore the following thematic areas related to Wikipedia, its sister projects, and the wider Wikimedia movement:
- Impact of AI
- Systemic Bias
- Neutrality and Reliability
- Navigational Challenges of Wiki Users
- Wikipedia and Knowledge Revolution
- Role of Wikipedia in Knowledge activism
- Case studies: Minority languages and their Wiki footprint
- Local Wikimedia communities and their challenges
Kindly follow the following submission guidelines:
- Length: Abstracts must not exceed 300 words, and can be submitted either as a PDF or in the email body.
- Submission: Email your file to dcw@wikimedia.org with the subject line: Abstract Submission: [Your Name] – [Topic].
- Ensure that your email body is not blank.
We will announce the selected abstracts by 17 January 2026. Additional guidelines will be sent through email communications only.
Conference location
The conference will be held in New Delhi, India, while allowing remote participants to present online. There will not be any remote participation (except in selected virtual presentations). Please keep an eye on Wikiversary 2026 for more details, including updates about the venue for onsite participants.
