Youth Focus Group

Youth Focus Group (TBA) will be a dedicated initiative at Deoband Community Wikimedia aimed at engaging Indian Muslim youth (ages 16–26) in the open knowledge ecosystem. This focus group is an outcome of the Wikimedia Youth Conference 2025 and is expected to be officially launched by the end of July 2025. This space is a result of the Wikimedia Youth Conference 2025, and is is expected to be announced by the end of July 2025. The Focus Group will be led by our Youth Conference scholars, Faiz Anjum and Sana Sabir.

Objectives

The Youth Group is imagined to contribute in the following areas:

• Youth engagement in open knowledge ecosystem and FOSS areas
• Curate peer spaces within the Wikimedia ecosystem (Wikimedia Movement Strategy 2030)
• Increased awareness about the Wikimedia Movement (Wikimedia Movement Strategy 2030)
• Build capacity to improve high-impact content related to our community (Wikimedia Movement Strategy 2030)
• Bridging Wikimedia and the Scientific Community
• Develop Research Skills among Students from an early level

Youth Focus Group welcomes interests from Indian Muslim students aged up to 26. We advise you to send an email to us at dcwwikimedia.org, addressing the following:

• Wikimedia username (if available)
• Consent from parents (if you are <18)
