We are excited to publish our first call for appointing four community members (two males & two females) to the DCW Board. This initiative is a key component of our October 2024 - March 2025 activity plan. The deadline for submitting candidacy is March 8, 2025.
Established on July 31, 2021, and recognized as a Wikimedia Foundation affiliate on January 16, 2022, DCW has made significant contributions to the open knowledge ecosystem. Our volunteers have had a presence at Wikimania Singapore, WikiConference India 2023, WikiWomenCamp 2023. In 2024, we had a reserved seat at the Wikimedia Summit in Berlin.
Responsibility of the Board
| Sustainability and growth of the DCW and its community has been demanding an executive board to oversee the decision-making processes. The Board will oversee the DCW and its work, as an ultimate authority. Its members are expected to be aware of Universal Code of Conduct, the Affiliate Structure, the aspects affecting the health of the DCW, and have knowledge of any current trends in the Wikimedia ecosystem, in order to contribute to the Movement Strategy Recommdendations. Among other responsibilities of the Board, is maintaining affiliate health, and approving any new initiatives at the Deoband Community Wikimedia. |
Guidelines for Candidates
| Candidates running for the DCW Board need to have a fair understanding of the Wikimedia ecosystem, and our vision statement. They should not be blocked on any Wikimedia projects, according to the established requirements. They should hold an undergraduate educational degree. In compliance with the procedural guidelines, the interested candidates need to submit their candidature to moderator |
Review and Voting
| The moderators will publish individual candidate pages for the wider community to aid the voting process, which will be securely held on SecurePoll, using the Single transferable voting method. The candidate pages will be accessible from DCW Board Elections/2025#Candidates once published. Voting will be conducted between 11 to 23 March 2025. |
