Youth Focus Group is a dedicated initiative at Deoband Community Wikimedia aimed at engaging Indian Muslim youth (ages 16–26) in the open knowledge ecosystem. This focus group is an outcome of the Wikimedia Youth Conference 2025. It was officially launched in July 2025.
The group is led by our Youth Conference scholars, Faiz Anjum and Sana Sabir, who bring their passion and insight to build a vibrant, inclusive space for youth participation in knowledge-sharing and collaborative growth within the Wikimedia movement.
Objectives
The Youth Group envisions meaningful contributions in the following key areas:
- Youth engagement in open knowledge ecosystem and FOSS areas
- Curating peer spaces within the Wikimedia ecosystem (Wikimedia Movement Strategy 2030)
- Raising awareness about the Wikimedia Movement (Wikimedia Movement Strategy 2030)
- Capacity Building for High-Impact Content Development (Wikimedia Movement Strategy 2030)
- Bridging Wikimedia and the Scientific Community
- Developing Research Skills among Students from an early level

Youth Focus Group welcomes interests from Indian Muslim students aged 16 to 26. To apply, please send an email to youth
