Wiki Clicks AMU 2026: Through Students Eyes
There is a certain magic in walking the same path every day, the way morning light falls on a centuries-old arch, the unexpected symmetry of a garden corner, the quiet resilience of a tree that has witnessed generations of students. For one month this spring, Wiki Club AMU asked its fellow students to pause, look closer, and share that magic with the world.
Wiki Clicks AMU 2026 was more than a photography contest. It was an open call to document the soul of Aligarh Muslim University through three thematic lenses: Architecture, Greenery, and Geometry. Held from 10 March to 10 April 2026, the contest invited bonafide AMU students to submit their original photographs to Wikimedia Commons, contributing to the world’s largest free visual archive while celebrating the university’s unique aesthetic language.
Themes
- Architecture
- Greenery
- Geometry
The result was a remarkable collection of images, each one a love letter to a place that is at once historic and deeply personal. Over the course of the month, participants submitted a total of 131 photographs, enriching Wikimedia Commons with fresh visual documentation of AMU’s architectural and natural heritage.

More Than a Contest
Behind the scenes, Wiki Club AMU’s team worked tirelessly, designing promotional materials, coordinating with the jury, managing submissions, and ensuring transparency throughout the process. Their dedication turned a simple idea into a campus-wide celebration of visual storytelling and free knowledge.
What made Wiki Clicks AMU 2026 special was not only the quality of the winning photographs but the sheer participation. Students from across different disciplines picked up their phones and cameras and looked at their university with fresh eyes. With 131 images uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, these photographs will remain freely accessible to anyone, anywhere, for years to come.
In doing so, participants did more than document AMU. They contributed to a global movement that believes knowledge, and the beauty that inspires it, should belong to everyone.
Looking Ahead
Wiki Clicks AMU will return. And when it does, we hope to see even more students, more perspectives, and more moments of quiet wonder frozen in time.
Until then, the winning images and special mentions live on Wikimedia Commons, a testament to what happens when a community pauses to truly see its home.
Keep framing, keep sharing, keep clicking.
